It is particularly poignant today in light of the events of this year, to remind ourselves of the values we consider important to us as Canadians. Whether we are recent Canadians or are early Canadian settlers, we are all Canadians.
Today, at Oakville’s Ward 5 Canada Day celebrations, all participants were asked to participate in taking the Oath of Allegiance. If we were born in Canada, we have likely never taken the Oath. Today we had the opportunity to be part of the larger Canadian family in the community in which we live, work and play.
