Conserving Oakville’s Rural Settler Heritage

The old Palermo Schoolhouse was busy last night, February 4th!

Our speaker, Carolyn Van Sligtenhorst, presented us with a perspective on “Conserving Oakville’s Rural Settler Heritage”. The focus on North Oakville gave a nice overview of how the Town of Oakville identifies and helps protect these properties through designations and heritage easement agreements.  We would like to thank Carolyn and her colleagues for coming out and doing a great job.  More details can be found in the TTHS Newsletter.

To those who attended many thanks for the engagement, bringing pictures, stories and questions to the Event!  We look forward to our next gathering.

Carolyn shared insights into:

– What makes a building a “heritage” property*.

– Where these properties are located.

– How they’re being preserved for future generations.
